At the end of December 2021, a joint Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS), Home Office and Department of Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) announcement was made regarding the introduction of digital identity verification for the purposes of Right to Work / Rent (RtW/R) and DBS checks.
The announcement can be viewed by clicking here.
A further announcement is scheduled in the coming weeks which will outline the process for identity service providers to become certified onto the framework, along with the finalised digital identity guidelines for DBS checks and right to work.
Credence will be partnering with a certified Identification Document Validation Technology (IDVT) service provider, ahead of the DBS’ planned phased implementation of the guidelines in the coming months.
The new guidance and process will result in a more streamlined ID Verification process, bringing huge benefits to us as both a Responsible Organisation as regards basic disclosures and a Registered Body as regards Standard and Enhanced Disclosures. This will help to support our clients in accelerating the recruitment and onboarding process and enhance the security and integrity of these checks.
We will be providing further updates once they have been confirmed by the DBS. In the meantime, identity checks will continue in line with current guidance.
