DBS Privacy Policy Update: GDPR compliance

A short update from us today on the recent DBS privacy policy update.

The DBS updated their policy on January 25th 2021. This change affects both candidates and companies applying for Standard and Enhanced DBS checks. You can view the full policy on the DBS website at this link.

The changes to DBS privacy policy appear intended to bring it up-to-date with the latest GDPR rules. Although the UK has left the European Union, the government still maintains the privacy protections outlined by the GDPR. As such, the DBS is one of many organisations that need to update their fine print as the government brings prior EU legislation into British law.

This ensures the continuation of the free flow of (safeguarded) information with the UK and the eurozone. This removes the impact on the background screening industry. We’ll have more updates in the future when we know more about any practical impacts the DBS privacy policy update may have on businesses.
